Cornhole Pros Pitch for the Crown at Sam’s Town Las Vegas

This weekend January 23 & 24 at Sam’s Town Las Vegas the best of the best in competitive cornhole play will match their pitching skills to determine the 2008 King of Cornhole Champion. The ACO U.S. Nationals King of Cornhole Tournament of 64 players will include 25 of the top 40 CornyForty Players, an elite list of professional cornhole players. The balance of the tournament players will be determined from King of Cornhole Qualifier Rounds held on Friday January 23.

For the past two years Matt Guy, from Kentucky, has claimed the ACO King of Cornhole Crown. Competition continues to improve making it much more challenging for Matt to hold onto his crown. Randy Atha, out of Ohio, has been runner up to Matt for those two years and is ready for his glory. Dale Smith, the newest CornyForty member, has finished second to Matt before, and he smells corn. Not sure that Steve Vanderver, an Ohio resident, would agree. Steve is the number 3 player on the CornyForty List and has his sights set on the Crown. Sheri Eggleton, from Indiana, wants to show those boys that she is the Pitch King. The True brothers, Charles and Noel, are playing for family pride, while Jason Schwab a teacher from South Carolina wants to teach the Tournament Players a lesson. Mike Schaffer, a FedEx employee, expects his bag deliveries to be on target, while Rick Taylor, from the Buckeye State, wants mercy from the players. He says this is his last K of C Tournament. None of the players are buying that. Let the bags fly.

There will be great fun and the public is invited. Doors open 9:00 AM on Friday and Saturday at Sam’s Town Las Vegas. It is a Festival atmosphere with Social Cornhole Doubles and Competitive Cornhole Doubles, the ACO Signature Cornathalon experience, and the ACO Professional Cornhole Tournament. The Cornathalon is a series of cornhole skill games: Airmail Challenge, Seven21, Toss Game, Mini Frame Game, and Cornhole13. The Public is invited to participate in the social doubles and competitive doubles cornhole games, the Cornathalon, and better players can register for the remaining spots in the King of Cornhole Qualifier Round.
