George Anthony, Caylee Anthony Grandfather, Hospitalized After Suicide Hints

The grandfather of slain Florida toddler Caylee Anthony is in a Daytona hospital after he hinted at suicide and disappeared. George Anthony was found at a Daytona Beach motel early Friday morning unharmed after his wife Cindy Anthony reported him missing and told authorities he hinted at suicide in text messages.

Anthony, 57, was taken into custody under the Barker Act, which allows authorities to hold someone at a mental-health facility for up for 72 hours for evaluation. Authorities located him by using signals from his cell phone. He is currently being evaluated and is said to be in stable condition.

George and Cindy Anthony have been outspoken about the investigation into the murder of Caylee, 2, and their daughter Casey Anthony’s arrest in the case. Casey, 22, is charged with first degree murder in the death of her daughter. She is currently being held in a Florida prison. She was told of her father’s condition Friday morning.

Caylee’s body was found a block away from her grandparent’s home in December. Court documents released this week revealed that Caylee was duct taped and placed in a laundry bag with a blanket and several toys. A heart shaped sticker was “intentionally” placed on the duct tape that was put over her mouth.
