Derrick Rose Denies Steroid Use Problem

NBA MVP Sets the Record Straight

On Sunday, Chicago Bulls guard and this year's MVP, Derrick Rose, denied having told ESPN that he believes performance-enhancing drugs are a big problem in the NBA.

Rose was supposedly asked by ESPN how much of a problem, on a scale of 1 to 10, he thinks the use of performance-enhancing drugs is in the NBA.

In response, Rose reportedly said, "Seven. It's huge, and I think we need a level playing field, where nobody has that advantage over the next person."

But on Sunday afternoon, Rose released a statement in which he basically denied having ever made such a statement.

"Regarding the quote attributed to me in ESPN The Magazine, I do not recall making the statement nor do I recall the question being asked," said Rose. "If that was my response to any question, I clearly misunderstood what was asked of me.

"But, let me be clear, I do not believe there is a performance enhancing drug problem in the NBA."
