Calling
all women with diabetes! It's time to take charge of your health and have fun
doing it! It's Camp WILD! WILD is Women Inspiring Life with Diabetes and we are
announcing our annual, amazing Camp WILD! We invite YOU to attend!
Camp WILD is a three day on-site, sleepover camp for adult women with diabetes
who want to further their knowledge of fitness, diabetes, and overall wellness.
Camp WILD will be held in Boulder, Colorado. Camp will begin at 4 PM
on Thursday, June 23 and finish at 12:30 PM on Sunday, June 26. Plan to arrive
before 4 PM on June 23 and depart by air no earlier than 3 PM on Sunday, June
26. It takes about 1 hour to get from the Denver International Airport to
Boulder.
The
Camp WILD host hotel is Homewood Suites by Hilton in Boulder, Colorado.
Camp WILD is for any women with type 2 or type 1 diabetes who
are older than 18, who are younger than 100, who can walk at least one hour,
who want to learn about fitness and diabetes and who have the energy and
enthusiasm to learn more about how to have a fabulous life with diabetes!
COMPONENTS
OF CAMP WILD:
- Diabetes
and sports nutrition lectures
that are highly experiential, personalized and case study focused. Type 2
and type 1 diabetes will be covered in depth. Topics such as hypoglycemia
during/after exercise, insulin action and medication action while
exercising, weight loss and exercise, nutrition for performance, and many
more, will be covered. Medical staff includes Marcey Robinson, MS, RD,
CDE, BC-ADM and Jennifer Smith, RD, LD, CDE.
- Diabetes
EXPO with highly personalized interactions with reps from Medtronic,
Lifescan, Omnipod, Dexcom, Animus, Rudy Project, Road ID and many others.
- Athletic
and fitness coaching lectures
that will help you go faster, perform better and understand your body with
more precision. Coaching staff include Nicole Freedman, Olympic cyclist,
Celeste St. Pierre and Nancy Eastman.
- Up to 5 hours of exercise/training per day under the incredible guidance
of outstanding coaches. Emphasis on the sports of swimming, biking
and running. Sessions of core, weight lifting and stretching/yoga also
included.
- Sports
Psychology lectures with Carrie Cheadle a Sport
& Exercise Mental Skills coach and a Certified Consultant through the
Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).Carrie will help you tame
the monsters and foster the inner athlete.
- One
on one time with at least one of the staff
for individual consultation and guidance.
- Lots of time to connect, share stories and make lifelong
friends with other women with diabetes who love being active and
in-charge of their diabetes.
- Meals:
Dinner on June 23, Breakfast,
lunch and dinner on June 24 and 25, breakfast and lunch on June 26. Snacks
will be provided as well. We hope to have a variety of sports nutrition
products on hand for women to sample.
