By: Daun Lee

The big news topic of this week has been the impending apocalypse predicted by Christian fundamentalist preacher Harold Camping.  Since the apocalypse is all the rage the Center for disease Control decided to inform the citizens of another possible apocalypse caused by zombies, that’s right the living dead subject of many horror films.

Dave Daigle, spokesman for the CDC, came up with idea to teach people about disaster preparedness, since hurricane season is approaching by warning of a Zombie apocalypse. According to Daigle “preparedness and public health are not sexy topics.” He felt that disaster preparedness needed some sensation so he began warning people of a Zombie apocalypse through the CDC Twitter site.

The CDC blog posts usually get about a thousand hits a day. Since he posted the Zombie apocalypse preparedness on Wednesday their Twitter posts have increased to 30,000 people in 2 days. The Twitter verse has been alight with the news and the sensation has spread throughout the internet.

Not to worry, though, the CDC doesn’t really believe the dead will start walking.

The CDC utilized Twitter to inform the public, so it is a powerful tool. For businesses and SEO optimization, Twitter can be a valuable tool that can be utilized to reach even more customers. The internet is the leading what people get their information either through searches or social media. SEO optimization can help a business reach more customers by utilizing social media.
