George Anthony Told Family “He Wanted to be With Caylee”

George Anthony texted family members messages saying he “did not want to live anymore and that he wanted to be with Caylee,” according to new police reports.

Anthony, the grandfather of slain Florida toddler Caylee Anthony, disappeared late Thursday night after sending the messages. His wife Cindy Anthony became worried and called authorities. The 57-year-old was found early Friday morning at a hotel in Daytona. Police say a 5-page suicide note was found in his car.

He was taken into custody under Florida’s Barker Act, which allows authorities to hold someone at a mental-health facility for up for 72 hours for evaluation. Authorities located him by using signals from his cell phone. He is currently being evaluated and is said to be in stable condition.

“He is not OK. George would not be with us without the efforts of law enforcement,” the Anthony’s attorney Brad Conway said in a statement Friday.

George and Cindy Anthony have been outspoken about the investigation into the murder of Caylee, 2, and their daughter Casey Anthony’s arrest in the case. Casey, 22, is charged with first degree murder in the death of her daughter. She is currently being held in a Florida prison. She was told of her father’s condition Friday morning.

Caylee’s body was found a block away from her grandparent’s home in December. Court documents released this week revealed that Caylee was duct taped and placed in a laundry bag with a blanket and several toys. A heart shaped sticker was “intentionally” placed on the duct tape that was put over her mouth.
