Pakistani officials have confirmed a drone strike on Monday killed 7 militants in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan. The militants died when two missiles hit their vehicle as they traveled in the town of Mir Ali, which is located in the district of North Waziristan.
Officials believe the missiles were fired from drones operated by the United States. U.S. authorities do not officially acknowledge the use of drones in Pakistan. Pakistani authorities have called for drone strikes to stop. Last month, the Ministry of Foreign affairs released a statement calling the attacks “counterproductive.”
"Drone attacks have become a core irritant in the counter-terror campaign. We have repeatedly said that such attacks are counterproductive and only contribute to strengthen the hands of the terrorists,” the ministry said.
