Belgian Man Charged with Murdering Two Babies and Nurse in Nursery Attack

A 20-year-old Belgian man has been charged in a vicious nursery attack in Dendermonde that left two babies and a nurse dead and another ten children and two adults injured.

According to police the man, identified as Kim D, used a large knife in the attack and may have been planning a series of attacks on at least three other nurseries. Kim D is expected to appear in court on Tuesday where he will answer to murder charges filed by magistrates.

Kim D was apprehended shortly after the attack and he was found carrying a large knife, a small axe and a fake pistol. The man was also wearing a bullet-proof vest. Investigators interrogated him for several hours but have yet to establish a motive in the attack.

In a bizarre twist to the attack Kim D. had painted his face white with black patches around his eyes, similar to the appearance of the Joker in Batman. Many are questioning if there is a link to the death of actor Heath Ledger, who played the role of the Joker in “Dark Knight,” and the attack. Ledger died one year ago.
