Andy Roddick continued his push for his second career Grand Slams singles title with a relatively easy straight set win over Tommy Robredo in the fourth round of the Australian Open. Roddick’s 7-5, 6-1, 6-3 victory now places him in the quarterfinals in Melbourne.
Roddick once again used his powerful serve to suffocate his opponent as he hammered out 13 aces while winning 84 percent of his first serve offerings and collected 34 winners in the match that lasted less than two hours.
Roddick has one Grand Slam singles title to his credit, a 2003 win at the U.S. Open. He has reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open on three occasions but fell in each of those matches. The American has also appeared in a pair of Wimbledon finals but lost to Roger Federer both times.
