Casey Anthony is on trial for the murder of her daughter Caylee. Casey reported her daughter missing and the search went on for 5 months until her body was discovered just a half mile from her Florida home. Her trial began today.
Up to her trial, Casey has maintained her innocence but investigators believed she killed her daughter and concealed the body. Her lawyers allege that Caylee accidentally drowned in their pool, and that Casey lied about the manner of her death. Today is the first time details of Casey’s account have been presented by the defense.
Caylee was missing for a month before Casey reported her disappearance to the police. She then accused a nanny of being the last person to see her. The five month long search for Caylee ended when they found her body lying in a wooded area which led to the arrest of Casey. The defense assured the court that they would recount the story for them and outline the abuses Casey suffered to explain her negligent behavior.
