Golf Arizona Radio, an online radio show that has interviewed everyone from Ricky Fowler to Jack Nicklaus, is set to interview the founder of the U.S. Putting Tour, Jim Hartley, on its Wednesday, May 25 show at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
The show airs Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is hosted by Mike Rafferty. Mr. Hartley will inform listeners on what's happening with the tour in its first year and on the inaugural USPT Championship taking place in late September in Carlsbad, California at The Crossings.
"It's great to be able to share news of the U.S. Putting Tour with golfers in Arizona and with golfers from around the world who tune into Golf Arizona Radio," said Hartley. "And I have a special surprise for all those golfers who tune in."
There are two ways for golfers in Arizona to reach the
putting championship. They can enter the
putting tournament directly at the USPT website or they can qualify at an official qualifying event, which any golf professional, charity, men's or ladies' club, or individual can host.
Golfers traveling to Carlsbad for the putting event will be able to take advantage of special hotel rates and golf rates at
The Crossings, which will be announced shortly on the USPT website.
Mr. Hartley indicated that golfers who compete in the championship will play a first round that consists of 72 holes of putting on The Crossings' main putting green. Because this round takes less than three hours, Mr. Hartley pointed out that every participant will have ample free time for golf, site-seeing, shopping and visiting.
A total of 72 golfers will advance from the first round to Championship Sunday, where they will play 36 holes in the morning and, for the 24 golfers who make the next cut, 36 more holes in the afternoon. The overall winner and individual professional and amateur winners will be crowned at approximately 3:00 p.m. on October 2.
