Serena
Williams is back in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open after her
opponent, Victoria Azarenka, was forced to retire in the second set after
becoming too sick to continue.
Williams
was trailing 3-6, 4-2 in the second when Azarenka walked off the court. She had
just finished her service game and appeared ready to collapse when she informed
the umpire she would not be able to continue. Azarenka was looking strong after
the first set and looked to have Williams on the ropes before she fell ill.
Williams
has won nine Grand Slam singles titles including a career Grand Slam. She owns
three U.S. Open titles, a French Open title, two Wimbledon titles, and three
Australian Open titles. Williams only title in 2008 was a win at the U.S. Open.
