Australian Open 2009 Round Four Results: Elena Dementieva Cruises into Quarterfinals with Straight Set Win Over Dominika Cibulkova

Elena Dementieva has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open after enjoying a relatively easy straight set win over Dominika Cibulkova 6-2, 6-2 in the fourth round.

Dementieva broke Cibulkova’s serve on 6 of 11 opportunities and hammered out 24 winners to control the flow of the game. Cibulkova struggled to control her serve as she committed six double faults and managed to hit just six winners.

Dementieva has yet to capture a Grand Slam singles title but has reached the finals at the U.S. Open and French Open in 2004.
