Marin County rehabilitation program
Alta Mira Recovery Programs announced the
addition of its newest staff psychologist, Dr. Adriana Popescu, to its holistic
alcohol and drug addiction recovery program. Boasting more than two decades of
clinical experience, Popescu joins Alta Mira’s unique residential and
outpatient addiction treatment program, offering an intensive, highly
customized recovery experience for Bay Area patients.
“Alta Mira offers close and customized guidance for each
patient on the road to addiction recovery,” said Roland Williams, Alta Mira’s
Executive Director. “Dr. Popescu brings a lengthy, extensive career in
substance abuse treatment, and it’s a privilege to have her on board at Alta
Mira.”
Popescu’s resume emphasizes treatment of alcohol and drug
addictions, with a specialty in
cases of Dual Diagnosis – patients whose
addictions become compounded by co-occurring mental health issues. After
completing her undergraduate work at Dartmouth College, Popescu later received
her Ph.D. from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in 2006. Prior to
joining Alta Mira, Popescu spent eight years managing the Adult Substance Abuse
Program at Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, and later directed the
outpatient program at Marin Services for Women.
“I’m a strong believer in employing a variety of proven
therapies tailored to patients struggling with addiction,” Popescu explains.
“Alta Mira’s comprehensive approach to addiction recovery and strong commitment
to individualized care foster successful recovery. I’m enthusiastic about
partnering with Alta Mira in helping patients achieve lasting sobriety through
these shared values.”
Popescu joins Alta Mira’s extensive clinical staff, with
more than a collective 150 years of clinical experience in drug and alcohol
addiction treatment. Popescu also has received training in somatic and creative
arts therapy, as well as certifications in hypnotherapy and
Neuro Emotional
Technique (NET). In addition to her experience working with outpatient and
inpatient programs, psychiatric hospitals and sober living facilities, Popescu
also has maintained a San Francisco-based private practice, which she will continue
alongside her position at Alta Mira.
“Adriana brings a diversity of therapeutic experience to
Alta Mira, with the targeted focus on alcohol and drug addiction recovery,”
added Bill Morrison, Alta Mira Chief Executive Officer. “Our philosophy of
multidimensional treatment in an atmosphere of personalized therapy makes her
addition to our staff a precise fit.”
In addition to traditional 12-step modalities, Alta Mira’s
unique addiction treatment program incorporates alternative therapies,
spiritual development, development of social and family bonds, and continual
aftercare services.
With a high
staff-to-patient ratio, Alta Mira also offers highly customized therapy,
incorporating the feedback of family, friends and associates with patient
