Israel Launches Air Strike in Southern Gaza After Bomb Attack Killed Israeli Soldier

A bomb attack on Israeli soldiers near the Gaza border has been countered by an Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza, leaving the tenuous ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in jeopardy.

According to reports an Israel patrol near the border crossing of Kissufim was hit by a bomb attack that killed at least one soldier while injuring three others. Shortly after the attack Israeli troops entered Gaza and an airstrike on the town of Khan Younis wounded at least two.

As a result of the bomb attack Israel has closed the border into Gaza, halting any aid supplies from entering the region that was decimated by a three-week conflict between Israel and Hamas.

More than 1,300 Palestinians were killed in the fighting and at least 50,000 were left homeless.
