The Miami Heat Win the Eastern Conference Finals

The Heat Beat the Chicago Bulls in Game 5

On Thursday night, the Miami Heat beat the Chicago Bulls 83-80 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference. The Heat will now face the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

The Bulls were up 77-67 with less than 3 minutes left in the game before the Heat went on a 16 to 3 run that included two clutch 3-pointers from LeBron James and a 4-point play from Dwyane Wade.

James led the Heat with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. Wade, despite his struggles with turnovers and poor shooting throughout the game, contributed 21 points and made what was arguably the most important play of the series.

Derrick Rose, this season's MVP and the star of the Bulls, scored 25 points on just 9 of 29 shooting. Unfortunately, he failed to deliver during the final minutes of the game. He was responsible for the foul that led to Wade's 4-point play. He also missed a game-tying free throw in the final two minutes and a three-pointer to tie the game in the final seconds of the game.

The Heat will be returning to the Finals for the first time since 2006, when the Heat beat the Mavericks and Wade was named the MVP of the series. Now Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James will each be trying to win their first NBA Finals title.
