Jacksonville,
Florida-based Showbiz Promotions has announced that it will suspend the planned
sale of a “Caylee Sunshine Doll” following feedback received from the public.
Showbiz
Promotions President Jaime Salcedo announced in a letter that the company had
planned on selling the doll beginning on January 27 with “100% of the profits (going)
to charity.”
The
doll was to sell for $29.95 and depicted Caylee Anthony in a white t-shirt and
blue jeans and would sing “You Are My Sunshine” when her belly was pushed.
Despite the company’s pledge that the doll was being sold to create awareness
surrounding crimes against children the company received negative feedback from
the public.
Caylee
Anthony disappeared last June and after a six month search her remains were
found in a plastic bag in a wooded area less than half a mile from her home.
The two-year-old’s mother, Casey Anthony, remains behind bars awaiting trial on
first degree murder charges. Casey Anthony has maintained her innocence in the case
and continues to insist that she dropped Caylee off with a babysitter and when
she returned she was gone.
