Maximize Your Marinades This Memorial Day Weekend With Sweet Ideas from North Dallas Honey

Eating outdoors is a big part of life in the Southwest.  “Enjoy the outdoors with friends and family while the grill is firing up,” says Nathan Sheets, President of North Dallas Honey. “It’s a great start to a wonderful meal -- and nothing tastes better than honey caramelized into a tenderloin, chicken or fish.”

North Dallas Honey offers these tips and recipes for perfect grilling every time.

Start Smart-- For the perfect sauce or marinade, begin with the freshest ingredients as a base: garden-picked herbs, freshly grated rinds and gently pressed garlic. Keep these ingredients on hand for chef-quality suppers every time.

Sauté Simply—Meat toppers like balsamic onions, mushrooms or pepper, develop a richer taste when sautéed with olive oil, garlic and honey. Be sure to slice your ingredients thinly, then place your saucepan on the grill. Sauté fresh garlic in olive oil, add veggies and a tablespoon of North Dallas Honey, and finish with a splash of balsamic vinaigrette. Magnifique!

Slightly Sweet—Honey adds a flavor punch to any sauce or marinade. Just a tablespoon of Dijon mustard mixed with two tablespoons of North Dallas Honey gives you a fast, easy and awesome way to finish off grilled meat. Just before the last turn of the meat, gently brush the entire surface with honey mustard sauce. Prepare a five-minute store-bought couscous, toss in some dried cherries and a handful of almonds, and suddenly -- supper!

Try this citrus-fresh concoction this weekend:

Orange Honey Marinade
1/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 tablespoons North Dallas Honey
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated
1 teaspoon orange rind, finely grated

In a shallow glass dish, combine all ingredients. Add salmon steaks, chicken breasts or pork tenderloin to the marinade. Turn once to coat. Cover and refrigerate one hour. Grill meat on a medium-high grill. Brush with marinade, grill until marinade caramelizes (about five minutes).
