Kevin McHale to Coach the Houston Rockets

Celtics Legend to Become Head Coach of NBA Team

The Houston Rockets have reached a deal that will make Boston Celtics legend Kevin McHale the new coach of the team. The deal was reportedly made on Friday.

McHale served several stints as an interim coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves. His win-loss records as interim coach were 39-55, 19-12, and 20-43.

Perhaps his most notable contribution as an executive in Minnesota was his drafting of future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett straight out of high school.

Rockets big man Yao Ming, who has been plagued by injuries for years now, says that, even though his contract expires this summer, he would like to continue playing with the team when he recovers from a stress fracture in his left ankle.

McHale is a 3-time NBA Champion with the Boston Celtics. In 1996, he was named one of the 50 Greatest NBA Players of all time. McHale worked as a TV basketball analyst for TNT this past season.
