Rafael
Nadal is back in the semifinals at the Australian Open after the Spaniard
knocked off Gilles Simon in straight sets 6-2, 7-5, 7-5.
Nadal
once again relied on efficiency as he won 73 percent of his first serves and
hit just 24 unforced errors compared to 41 unforced errors from Simon. Nadal
also took advantage of opportunities when they presented themselves as he broke
Simon’s serve on 7 of 12 occassions.
Nadal
has won five Grand Slam singles titles including four at the French Open and
his first Wimbledon title last year. Three of his French Open titles and his
Wimbledon crown came at the expense of Roger Federer. Nadal’s best finish at
the Australian Open was a semi-final appearance last year.
