Serena
Williams was a set down and facing 3-5 in the second set but managed to fight
her way back and top Svetlana Kuznetsova in three sets 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 to reach the
semifinals of the Australian Open.
Williams
struggled in the heat during the first set but after officials closed the roof the
American regained her form and battled back to earn the win. Williams managed
to get her serve under control and won 69 percent of her first serves put in
play while taking advantage of 42 unforced errors from Kuznetsova.
Williams
has won nine Grand Slam singles titles including a career Grand Slam. She owns
three U.S. Open titles, a French Open title, two Wimbledon titles, and three
Australian Open titles. Williams only title in 2008 was a win at the U.S. Open.
