Somali Pirates Hijack German Tanker in Gulf of Aden

A German tanker reportedly transporting liquefied petroleum gas was hijacked by Somali pirates as it traveled through the Gulf of Aden.

The 13 crew members of the MV Longchamp are said to be safe but there has been no contact with the hijackers. Already at least three ships have been hijacked in the Gulf of Aden since the beginning of the year.

Somali pirates have continued to target ships passing off the coast despite a rise in warships sent by other countries to halt attacks.
