Tech Coast Venture Network June Workshop: “Valuation: What is Your Startup Worth?”

Tech Coast Venture Network’s June Workshop on Valuation will be hosted on June 9, 2011 at 7:30am by Haynes and Boone, LLP.   Bart Greenberg, Partner, Haynes and Boone, and Chair Emeritus of TCVN, and Jay Winokur, Financial Consultant and member of the executive committee of TCVN, will discuss valuation techniques for startups, a critical aspect of negotiation with investors or potential buyers.

“Investors use a variety of valuation techniques.  Some appear to be very quantitative and precise, while others are obviously judgmental and subjective. Some are applications of sophisticated formulae, while others are rules of thumb. We will discuss no fewer than six techniques that angels, VCs and other professional investors may use,” said Winokur.

Speakers:

Bart Greenberg, a partner in the Orange County office of Haynes and Boone, LLP, practices general corporate law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings and the cost-effective representation of entrepreneurs, start-ups and emerging technology companies.  Bart is Chair Emeritus of TCVN, having chaired the organization from 2005 to 2010, and the recipient of TCVN’s 2011 Entrepreneur Advocate of the Year award.

Jay Winokur, has been a financial executive with technology and science-based organizations ranging from pre-revenue startups to major divisions of the Fortune 500. He has assisted emerging companies secure over $200 million in funding.  His activities have included producing successful Investor Forums, and consulting to NASA on commercializing leading-edge technologies.
