Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Launches Social Media Campaign that Lets Consumers Reward Florida Non-Profits that Help in their Pursuit of Health

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc. (BCBSF) has recently launched a social media campaign, The Pursuit, to highlight and reward non-profit organizations that through their mission are assisting Floridians in their pursuit of health.  Each month, BCBSF will feature three philanthropic organizations on the company’s Facebook Fan page that have created new health, wellness, educational or social empowerment opportunities for under served communities throughout the state. Florida residents are invited to vote for the non-profit that most resonates with them.  BCBSF will award $3,000 to the non-profit with the most votes, and give the runners-up $1,000 each.

Organizations being featured in the month of June include:

Best Buddies  -- a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Equality Florida -- Florida’s largest civil rights organization dedicated to securing full equality for the state’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) residents.

PACE Center for Girls -- a community-based, gender-responsive prevention, diversion and early intervention program serving girls, ages 12-17, in 17 locations across Florida.

Started in early 2011, organizations previously featured through The Pursuit Facebook campaign have included:  March winner, Florida’s Vision Quest, which was honored alongside Daniel Kids and  Florida Hospice and Palliative Care;  April winner, Rails to Trails Conservancy, which was honored alongside March of Dimes and Communities in Schools of Florida; and May winner, Memories of Love, which  was honored alongside the Florida Association of Food Banks and The Big Fun Foundation.

Visit The Pursuit winner page for more details on all honored organizations, vote for your June non-profit of choice at www.facebook.com/BCBSFL and share your vote with friends to help ensure your pick gets the win!
