Serena Williams breezed past Dinara Safina in 59 minutes at the finals of the 2009 Australian Open, taking the singles title in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 for her tenth career Grand Slam singles title and her fourth in Melbourne.
Williams played nearly flawless tennis throughout the match as she won 95 percent of her first serves put in play and committed just 7 unforced errors in the match. She broke Safina on 5 of her six opportunities while her own serve was broken just once.
Williams has now won ten Grand Slam singles titles including a career Grand Slam. She owns three U.S. Open titles, a French Open title, two Wimbledon titles, and four Australian Open titles. Williams only title in 2008 was a win at the U.S. Open.
