Google Apologizes for “This Site May Harm Your Computer”

Google has apologized for an error in which “each and every search result” between 9:30 a.m. and 10:25 p.m. Saturday resulted in the message, ‘The site may harm your computer.’

The vice-president of search products and user experience Marissa Mayer blamed the glitch on human error. In a Google blog, Mayer explained that Google flags search results with the message if the web site installs malicious software. This morning, well known web sites were flagged with the message.

“This was clearly an error, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to our users,” Mayer wrote.
