More than 100 Killed in Kenya when Gas Tanker Overturns and Explodes

At least 111 people were killed when a gas tanker overturned and exploded while traveling on a highway in Kenya near the town of Molo.

After the tanker overturned scores of Kenyans descended on the scene trying to collect spilled fuel when the vehicle exploded. The cause of the explosion has not been determined but some have suggested a lit cigarette caused the blaze while others said the fire was deliberately started.

More than 200 people were injured in the blast, 34 of those were said to be in serious condition.

Many are criticizing the response time of officials as it took more than an hour before a fire engine arrived to battle the blaze.
