Top Women's Tennis Player Dies
Pauline Betz Addie Dies at Age 91
Hall of Fame tennis player Pauline Betz Addie died on Tuesday at the age of 91. Addie, who had Parkinson's disease, passed away at an assisted living facility in Maryland.
Addie was the top women's tennis player during the 1940's. She reached the finals of the U.S. Open every year from 1941 to 1946, winning four titles in the process. She also won a Wimbledon title in 1946.
Addie was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 1965 and continued to play in to her 80's.
She is survived by five children, five grandchildren, and her husband Bob Addie.
