Texas Students injured in collision outside Mobile

By: Daun Lee

A traffic collision involving an 18-wheeler and a charter bus occurred around 12:30 Monday morning in the Grand Bay area outside Mobile, Alabama. The semi overturned into the eastbound lanes of interstate 10. The first of the two chartered buses containing Texas high school students clipped the truck in an attempt to avoid collision.

The two chartered buses were taking the students to Orlando, FL., on a trip organized by their parents. The Del Rio Texas students make the trip every year. There were a total of 98 students on both of the chartered buses but only the first bus collided with the overturned truck.

Twenty six of the 54 students on the first bus were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Only three of the students remained in the hospital this morning. One student had severe injury to the liver and lungs and was airlifted to a local hospital. This student’s parents may need the advice of an accident attorney. It is unclear if the students will continue to Florida.

There is no word at the moment on what caused the semi to overturn.

Summer is approaching and more and more buses and vehicles will be on the highways, if and when a person is involved in a collision contacting an accident lawyer is in their best interest. The representation of an experienced accident attorney can assure the victim they will be justly compensated by the negligent parties in an automobile collision.
