Facebook mistake causes German girl’s party to get out of control

A German girl unknowingly invited over 15,000 people to her house for a party. The 16 year old wanted to invite only a few people to her house to celebrate her birthday, however she neglected to make the Facebook invitation private and over 1,500 people showed up for the party, which she fled, according to the Huffington Post.

The ability to reach thousands of people through Facebook is beneficial for a business or SEO optimization, but when it comes to a party invitation it could cause chaos. Her invitation which was public went viral was visible to everyone on Facebook.

The party resulted in the arrival of close to a hundred police and 11 temporary detentions. One police officer was injured and two fires had to be extinguished at the Hamburg party.

Her parents realized the mistake and announced the party was cancelled but over a thousand youngsters showed up anyway some bearing gifts.  Police spokesman, Mirko Streiber said “It was sheer insanity but mostly peaceful.” The power of social media can be surprising, making it a powerful tool in SEO optimization.

Twitter and Facebook have been utilized to start revolutions, most notably in the Mideast, and connect people worldwide. People who have Facebook accounts generally check their pages once a day, and some check it repeatedly through the day. Although, it was initially a social networking tool, Facebook has grown to be a powerful force in advertising and SEO optimization.
