Orchid Recovery Center Raises Funds for Susan G. Komen Foundation

Women’s alcohol and drug rehabilitation center The Orchid unveiled its online charity initiative aimed to benefit The Susan G. Komen Foundation. The move comes on the heels of The Orchid’s targeted nonprofit involvement to bring focus and funding to international nonprofits supporting women’s causes.

“The Orchid was carefully fashioned with the needs of women facing addiction in mind,” explained The Orchid Recovery Center Chief Executive Officer Julie Queler. “The Susan G. Komen Foundation echoes our commitment to women’s health issues with the amazing advocacy, prevention and legislative work they do for women worldwide.”

The prominent charity has made incredible strides since its inception in the 1980s. Facilitating more than a 1.5 billion dollars in funding for breast cancer services and research, the nonprofit entity’s now-famous "Race for the Cure" charity event has repeatedly broken fundraising records, supporting the foundation’s breast cancer advocacy and efforts. In addition, The Susan G. Komen Foundation also continues to champion issues of early detection, social awareness and groundbreaking breast cancer legislation on behalf of women throughout the world.

“Part of our community emphasis at The Orchid involves giving back,” explained The Orchid Recovery Center Chief Executive Officer Julie Queler. “It’s a pleasure and privilege to contribute to the intensive and expansive efforts The Susan G. Komen Foundation performs on behalf of breast cancer patients and survivors throughout the globe.”

Leveraging the power of social and emotional interaction among women, The Orchid’s unique alcohol and drug rehabilitation model hinges on the concept of community. In keeping with Karen Dodge’s “relational growth” model of addiction treatment, The Orchid offers tailored substance abuse treatment with a focus on trauma recovery. Offering patients a calibrated blend of traditional and holistic treatments, The Orchid provides professional detoxification, individualized and group clinical therapy sessions, 12-step methodologies, alternative therapies and physical fitness into its gender-specific recovery program.
