Sean Kingston faces lawsuit for disturbing wildlife prior to tragic accident

By: Daun Lee

Sean Kingston, 21, was involved in a serious jet skiing accident over the Memorial Day weekend. He and a companion, Cassandra Sanchez, crashed into the Palm Island Bridge in Miami, Florida.

The singer of the 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls,” was seriously injured and almost drowned- his life jacket fell off during the crash- until they were rescued by concerned citizens on a nearby boat, one of which worked for the Coast Guard. Rescuer Carmen Rivera pulled Kingston onto his boat to keep him from drowning.

Kingston suffered from a broken jaw and a neck injury and was admitted to Miami Beach Hospital where he was in the ICU. He has slowly been recovering.

His companion was not injured in the collision so she will not need an accident attorney. In cases where passenger is injured by the negligence of another, an accident lawyer can obtain compensation for their care.

Kingston was using his jet ski in a manatee zone, which is restricted use area. The state of Florida is going to take action and fine the singer up to $30,000.

In the US there are close to 10 drowning deaths on a daily basis, according to the CDC. Kingston could have drowned if there weren’t boaters nearby.

At times we think of accidents as something that occurs on the streets and highways but they can happen in water too. An individual who is injured in a water sports accident can contact an accident lawyer to see if they qualify for compensation.
