Manny
Ramirez has reportedly rejected a one-year offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers
said to be worth $25 million, leaving the most prized free agent still without
a team.
Ramirez
has been searching for a three to four year deal but those demands have not
attracted many suitors as the Dodgers remain the only club to offer the 2004 World Series MVP a deal.
Despite
the rejection the Dodgers have continued to express an interest in bringing
Manny Ramirez back. He was a major catalyst for the club’s post season appearance
and was a major draw for Dodgers fans.
While
Los Angeles has said they would continue to work towards signing Ramirez they
are nearing a time when they’ll have to make a move to shore up their outfield needs.
If they’re unable to sign Ramirez they could go after free agents Adam Dunn or
Bobby Abreu, both of whom are looking for far less than Manny.
