Legendary radio personality and former syndicated
columnist Eddie Schwartz has died. The Chicago native passed away last night at
a nursing home. He was 62.
The cause of death was not announced. Schwartz was
diagnosed with renal failure in 2005 and has been battling serious health
issues ever since.
Schwartz first got on air in 1973 at WLS-AM. He discussed
local issues and held forums on racism, poverty and health care on his nightly
program. Schwartz moved to WGN in 1982 and then to WLUP in 1992. He left the radio
in 1995 and became a columnist with Learner Newspapers.
