Rueben Randle, the nation's top high school wide receiver, committed to the LSU Tigers on National Signing Day today.
Randle, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound receiver from Bastrop (LA), selected LSU and head coach Les Miles over Alabama and Oklahoma. Randle will join dual-threat quarterback Russell Shepard and safety Craig Loston as LSU's most highly-touted recruits, boosting LSU to #1 in the 2009 college football recruiting class rankings.
Randle is ranked the nation's No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 2 player overall by Rivals.com. He becomes the fifth five-star recruit to commit with LSU, following Shepard, Loston, Janzen Jackson and Chris Davenport. Jackson was set to sign with the Tigers today, but was held up after waiting for his mother to fly in from California before he could sign the letter-of-intent.
Randle, Davenport, Sam Montgomery and Barkevious Mingo are the biggest recruits to make their official announcement for LSU on National Signing Day as the other top recruits previously committed.
Despite the Tigers' success, they did miss out on a major recruit in DeAngelo Benton, who committed to SEC rival Auburn.
