A 32-year-old Pennsylvania woman was found dead Thursday night at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. Friends of the unidentified woman found her body at her campsite and informed the Bonnaroo security staff, who called the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of death is unknown, but foul play is not suspected as the body showed no outward signs of trauma. An autopsy will be performed. The woman’s name will not be released until her family is notified of her death.
Bonnaroo released a statement on the woman’s death saying, “The safety and security of our guests is always our top priority, and we are saddened to report that a festival goer has died. We can confirm that last night around 11 p.m., festival medical personnel received a call from the camping area; they responded immediately and were on the scene within minutes. Unfortunately, the 32-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene. Per protocol standards, we contacted the Coffee County sheriff's office. Coffee County personnel reported to the site, and any further information will come from their office. Our condolences go out to her family and friends.”
This is not the first death at Bonnaroo. In recently years, 8 people have died while attending the festival. The most recent occurred in 2010 when a 29-year-old North Carolina man passed away of a heat stroke.
