With Father's Day one week away, the U.S. Putting Tour has created a unique Father's Day gift idea. People who know a Dad who likes to golf can purchase an entry into the U.S. Putting Tour's 2011 national championship for just $25.
The regular entry fee for the September tournament, which takes place at The Crossings golf course in Carlsbad, California, is $100. So golfers and friends of golfers can save $75 with this Father's Day offer.
"We want to get as many Dads and families playing in the USPT Championship," said U.S. Putting Tour president, Jim Hartley. "It's going to be a fun event and it's one that the whole family can compete in together."
The USPT Championship is open to men and women and junior golfers who are at least 13 years old at the time of the event, which begins on September 26. Both amateurs and professionals can participate in the
putting tournament. People can choose to compete for the prize money, including the $10,000 first prize, or as amateurs.
The
Father's Day offer is available through June 19, 2011, which is Father's Day. Individuals can register themselves or someone else for $25 this week by going to the Father's Day web page at the putting tour's website and paying by credit card or PayPal.
The
putting championship takes place over one week, but each participant will play on a maximum of two days. Competitors select the day during Championship Week they want to play their first round, which consists of 72 holes of putting on The Crossings' practice putting green. Golfers from each day of first round play will advance to Championship Sunday on October 2.
