It's very unfortunate Phelps had his picture taken by someone he trusted during a party and then have the loser try to sell him out by releasing it to the media. I'm not saying it's OK for a kid who has millions of dollars in endorsements to do drugs of any type, it was a huge mistake. The first person to admit it was Phelps himself who has apologized and admitted he made a mistake.
He was having a good time, he hurt no one, he caused no damage and he was not roaming the streets getting into trouble. There are a lot of other athletes that have committed crimes much worse than hitting a bong at a party. It's not like the other professional athletes we hear about who literally have been arrested for rapes, shootings, animal abuse/murder and even shooting themselves on accident.
