Octuplets Mom Nadya Suleman Opens Up About 14 Children

The mother of octuplets has opened up about family of 14 and the controversy sparked by the birth of her 8 babied last month. In an interview with NBC News, Suleman addressed speculation about how she will care for the children as a single mother and if she is selfish for having them.

“I’m providing myself to my children. I’m loving them unconditionally, accepting them unconditionally, everything I do. I’ll stop my life for them and be present with them and hold them and be with them,” she said. “And how many parents do that? I’m sure there are many that do, but many don’t. And that’s unfortunate. And that is selfish.”

As for how she will support such a large family on her own, Suleman says will be able to support them after she finishes getting a degree in counseling. “I know I’ll be able to afford them when I’m done with my schooling,” she says.

Suleman had all 14 of her children through fertility treatments using sperm from a donor she described as a friend. She insists she is being judged unfairly because she chose to be a single mother. “I feel as though I've been under the microscope because I've chosen this unconventional kind of life. I didn't intend on it being unconventional. It just turned out to be. All I wanted ... was to be a mom. That's all I ever wanted in my life,” Suleman adds.
