Florida man blames boogeyman for motorcycle accident

By: Daun Lee

A 49 year old man was arrested in Naples, Florida for DUI, but blamed the ‘boogeyman’ for his crash instead. Looks like he needs to hire a DUI attorney; the ‘boogeyman’ defense probably won’t work in court.

James Scarborough was taken to the hospital for minor injuries when he was discovered pinned under his motorcycle after crashing into some trees. The police went to Physicians Regional Hospital to question Scarborough when they heard yelling and obscenities coming from his room. During questioning, police detected a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. Posed with the question of how he got pinned under his motorcycle, Scarborough responded that the boogeyman did it, and that police couldn’t arrest him, but he was wrong.

He was asked to perform filed sobriety tests, which he repeatedly refused. He was belligerent with officers, and medical staff told the police that Scarborough threatened to kill someone.

He was arrested for DUI, resisting an officer, refusal to submit to a DUI test and two other license related charges.

A DUI can have very detrimental effects on a person’s life. A person can lose their license; face jail time and heavy fines. Retaining a DUI lawyer will work better for a defense strategy than blaming the boogeyman.

An experienced DUI attorney will apply their expertise to get charges reduced and sometimes dropped. If you feel as though you are wrongfully charged, they can work towards proving your case.
