Jamal Anderson, a former running back for the Atlanta Falcons, was arrested late Saturday night and faces drug charges after police found him in possession of cocaine and marijuana.
Anderson was arrested at the Peachtree Tavern after an off-duty officer alerted police who then arrived and took him into custody. The 36-year-old was booked into the Fulton County jail and denied bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
In 1998 Anderson led the Falcons to their first NFC title and their only Super Bowl appearance, a loss to the Denver Broncos.
Last year Anderson worked as an NFL analyst for ESPN’s First Take.
