Bus driver carrying students to Yellowstone had previous DUI charges

By: Daun Lee

Montana man driving a bus carrying Bozeman middle school children to Yellowstone National Park, was arrested for DUI on June 3rd. Reporters discovered that the driver had three previous DUI’s, one in 1991, 1998 and  2001.

While driving from Gardiner to Lamar Valley, a park ranger observed the school bus drift across the center line a total of three times in a two mile stretch. The officer pulled the bus and discovered the driver Jack Parrent had a blood alcohol content of .091. Another man sharing driving duties, Kevin Stark was on the bus but not behind the wheel, his blood alcohol content was .031. A DUI attorney is a desperately needed ally for a person facing drunken driving charges.

Both men were arrested and charged with DUI, plus felony charges of reckless endangerment and willfully operating a vehicle while on duty with a detectable amount of alcohol.

An investigation revealed the men were drunk from the previous night spent drinking in Gardiner.

Jerry Perkins, owner of the charter bus company Karst Stage, said Parrent’s previous DUI charges didn’t show up in a background because they didn’t go back far enough.

This case goes to show that you can be drunk the next day after a drinking binge.

A DUI has negative effects on a person’s life, but the representation of a DUI lawyer can help minimize the consequences, especially if it is the first. An effective DUI attorney may be able to keep the DUI recipient out of jail and reduce their penalties.
