Pakistani officials say at least 7 militants were killed in the latest set of suspected drone strikes. According to the officials, both strikes occurred Wednesday and targeted vehicles traveling in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
In the first strike, two missiles hit a car traveling in South Waziristan near the town of Wana and killed four militants. The second strike targeted a vehicle in North Waziristan. At least three people died in the second attack.
The United States does not officially acknowledge the use of drones in Pakistan. Pakistan authorities have condemned the attacks and called them “counterproductive.” "Drone attacks have become a core irritant in the counter-terror campaign. We have repeatedly said that such attacks are counterproductive and only contribute to strengthen the hands of the terrorists,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement in April.
