German Economy Minister Michael Glos Resigns, Position to be Filled by Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg

German economy minister Michael Glos has resigned from his position in what many consider to be a political embarrassment for Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Glos had said his decision to resign was made due to personal reasons but he had been criticized by many for not doing enough to stabilize Germany’s economy since the economic slowdown hit Europe.

Replacing Glos will be 37-year-old Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg who now becomes the youngest man to ever fill the role. Zu Guttenberg is currently the leader of the Christian Social Union, a party that is part of Merkel’s coalition government.
