Boko Haram Responsible for Suicide Bombing in Abuja, Nigeria

Radical Islamist sect Boko Haram claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing outside the police headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria on Thursday. The blast occurred at 8:45 in the parking lot of the building. Police said it was too early to establish a final death toll as Red Cross workers continued to find body parts amid debris.

"We have two whole bodies, one burned beyond recognition. Then we have parts of bodies and it is not possible to determine how many are dead," Red Cross official Umar Mairiga said.

Police spokesman Olusola Amore said the bomber detonated his explosives after he was directed to the parking lot for his car to be searched. Amore confirmed the traffic warden was killed in the explosion. "The traffic warden who entered the vehicle of the suicide bomber to direct him to the car park was blown up along with him," he said.
