Financial office for Marc Jacobs claims he was fired for reporting sexual harassment

By: Daun Lee

The Chief financial officer for fashion designer Marc Jacobs, Patrice Lataillade,  was fired and he claims it was retaliation for reporting incidents of sexual harassment. Representatives for Marc Jacob say that he was fired for altering financial reports that allowed him to earn large bonuses.

Patrice Lataillade filed a lawsuit earlier this year alleging that the company’s President and co-founder, Robert Duffy, subjected employees to different forms of sexual harassment. Lataillade stated that Duffy forced employees to watch gay porn and also made one Marc Jacobs store employee to do a pole dance. If a sexual harassment attorney can prove Duffy created a hostile work environment, Lataillade may be eligible for compensation.

To counter the sexual harassment claims, MJI fired Lataillade, because they say he altered accounting records to pay himself big bonuses. Lataillade maintains he was fired by the company in retaliation for his harassment lawsuit. MJI claims that he never complained of sexual harassment and he was fired for his questionable financial reports.

If the allegations are true, Lataillade is among the 41 percent of men in the workplace that are subjected to sexual harassment in the workplace. Employing a sexual harassment lawyer can help men and women end harassment in the workplace. A work environment should make people feel comfortable but sexual harassment can create an antagonistic environment. To assure workers are safe from uncomfortable situations, a sexual harassment attorney can be retained to end the harassment.
