A top member of the Juarez drug cartel was captured in northern Mexico this week. Federal authorities confirmed Marco Anthony Guzman, also known as El Brad Pitt, was arrested along with two other cartel members on Wednesday in the state of Chihuahua. It is unclear what led to his capture.
Guzman, a former police officer, is believed to be the head of the Juarez cartel’s “army.” The 34-year-old is accused of participating in the planning and execution of numerous attacks on police, including the June 2010 car bomb that killed two civilians and a federal officer in Ciudad Juarez. Guzman allegedly led an attack on a police deputy director earlier this month. He is also believed to be responsible for multiple murders.
Police have identified the two other suspects detained on Wednesday as Jose Ordaz and Octavio Ramirez.
