Israel
has completed voting in their snap general elections as polls have now closed
and the counting has now begun.
Early
exit polls figures have given a slight edge to the ruling Kadima Party,
indicating they would hold 30 seats compared to 29 seats held by the opposition
party Likud.
Up
until the voting took place Likud had appeared to hold an advantage of several
seats but those were quickly swallowed by an impressive showing from Kadima. Official
results for the general elections aren’t expected for several days.
The
general elections were called after Kadima leader Tzipi Livni failed to form a
new government after Ehud Olmert opted to step down last year.
