Jeremy Lusk, a 2008 X Games gold medalist in freestyle motocross, died on Tuesday, two days after he crashed while trying to perform a backflip at a competition in Costa Rica.
Lusk, 24, suffered massive head injuries and a possible spinal cord injury when he failed to land the flip and was rushed to Calderon Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Lusk had been in a medicine-induced coma but on Monday night his condition worsened and on Tuesday he went into cardiac arrest.
