Bartender on Trial for “Fatally Injuring” 16-Year-Old after Serving Boy 45 Tequila Shots

A German bartender is now on trial and facing charges of “fatally injuring” a 16-year-old after serving the boy 45 shots of tequila as part of a drinking bet in Feb. 2007. The teenager slipped into a coma and died four weeks later.

The bartender has admitted responsibility and told investigators he had a drinking bet with the teen to see who could consume the most tequila. According to the 28-year-old bartender he continued to serve the teen while pouring water for himself.

In November two other men were sentenced for encouraging the teen to continue drinking, they were ordered to complete a social training course.
